Post Season Begins at Pittsburg

Game 17: 6-9-2
25 October vs. Pittsburg at Pittsburg High School for the 5A Regional, Semi-Finals (8-0)

Pump Up Video (Thank you Mrs. Welsh)

Well, here we are the 14 seed at 5-9-2 (wearing our Matthew 5:9 shirts, feeling that Sermon on the Mount) when just days ago we were the 2 seed at 11-2-3. So that's why we going on a 2-hour bus ride to take on the 3 seed, Pittsburg. We are, however, back close to healthy with an almost-first-game starting line-up.

The coaching staff was not satisfied with our first half; we were up 3-0, and we had dominated possession, but we were not unselfish up top. We dribbled way too much instead of staying with a two-touch approach we had talk about in pregame.

Second half was so much better and way more on point. Gabe Garcia, in fact, logged his first ever varsity goal, and my was it a beauty. The starters, in total, scored 3 great goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half, before giving way to 11 subs.

The second group finished the game, and they played so well. I loved the ball movement and how hard everyone played defense. Those guys had the ball on our half most of their minutes.

Weasy distinguished himself as did that back line of Hulla, Bissen, Doerfler and Fleming. With Taborda and Reboulet finishing two goals, we exited Pittsburg with a nice opening win and a trip to the Regional Finals Thursday at Basehor-Lindwood.
