Alumni Weekend

Game 14 (9-2-3)
8 October at Home vs. Kapaun at 4:00 (6-1)

The weekend began with our first annual alumni match last night, followed by a dinner in the Commons. What a treat it was to see the guys who made this place famous, some dating all the back to 1992.

We paired that match with our 810 Classic match with Kapaun Mt. Carmel.

As you can see from the starting line-up, our injury list had grown from Weinrich and Garcia to adding Taborda, Murray, Bjorseth, and Bissen (and we have not had Leiker for quite some time as well). And Kitts played with an ankle brace. Befort, up from JV, played his first varsity match, at the "6," and he played the entire match, well.

The day began with a fabulous team breakfast at LeBourveau's and the talk of grasshoppers. Armed with that analogy and an added shooting twist to the warm-up we posted 5 first-half goals, two off corners. Liam was the first grasshopper out of the jar with a banger, less than 5 minutes in.

We rolled from there.

In our final match of senior week, Ethan made John Kurgan a captain for today's match. John put in 3 nice defensive stints in during the match as well.

Weinrich did end up playing about 30 minutes of the first half. And we were able to get Kitts and Muckerman out for quite a bit of the second half. We did a boys' first tonight as we grabbed Sarmiento out of the stands to suit him up for the second half. He gave Kitts a 30-minute breather.

We only play one this coming week, but it does have some EKL implications, so we need to take care of business. We will travel to BV West to play Blue Valley, Tuesday.
