Stripe Out for ALS

Game 1: (1-0-0) 26 August vs. St. James at Saint Thomas Aquinas (3-0) Boys Stats EKL 2022 It was, yet another, cool BWhite Event. Stripe Out for ALS with its emphasis on the Whigham and Hopfinger families will be hard to top. As both families were receiving special recognition from PA Announcer, Leo Brown, both teams executed the, now, traditional walk-out through the crowd and on to the field. After the prayer, followed by the STA choir performing the Star Spangled Banner live, and the introductions, we always stop for the joint picture, including all the players and coaches from both teams intermixed throughout. It's a cool moment. And then we play soccer. All that was good. We honestly were all over the Thunder statistically for the entire match, even when we were playing 10 vs. 11 after a somewhat, odd, red card had been given to our keeper ( Check it Out ).  But the ball was not on the turf enough, so although St. James had probably one legit chance to score late after we turn

The Real Blue-Gold

Game 0: (2-1) White (with the starting defense) fell 2-1 in a thriller to the Navy (starting offense) We got to watch some very competitive soccer as our Top 30 competed against one another for 60 minutes. It was zero-zero at half, and the defense took the 1-0 lead when Reboulet followed Lebourveau's rocket off the post. A few minutes later though Navy finally cashed one of their umpteen corners with Kitts' service redirected by a Muckerman header for a Swags following. Yep, it was that good. Not to be outdone, in the final 15, Liam Ryan laced a diagonal ball to the back post for a Jack Ruth full-volley. Navy did generated 10 corners--so, like the attack. Swags and Lebourveau got off the most shots, 3 apiece and both guys just drill it. We have to do a better job of finding Ethan, as he was open quite a few times.  Gabe Garcia was a beast at the "6" for white, causing us real build problems early. Barrett, however,, just battled and started attacking the sides where h

Blue-Gold 1

Game -1, Blue Gold one 20 August at Saint Thomas Aquinas  Our first blue gold match will differ greatly from the one coming up Tuesday. Here we had the straight JV roster playing the varsity roster after our parent meeting. So, varsity should win, now should they win 7-0 in 60 minutes—maybe not. JV was missing two of their better center midfielders in Weinberg and Zinkus; however, the varsity was missing starting back Bjorseth. Our shorter scrimmages at the end of practices had stayed fairly close—this one no. Kitts takes the pass from Young Liam heads in the Kitts baseline cross. Kitts heads in the Welsh corner. Young scores on the Muckerman thread Kitts completes the hat trick from Weisner Taborda finishes the ball off the post Fleming scores of Leiker's shot off the post

Here We Go for Year 35!

Saints boys are coming off a near-miss in 2021, finishing 3rd at State, after taking the title in 2020, the 17th in program history. Our captains ( Andrew Seger, Ethan Young, Cooper Welsh and Barrett Kitts) borrowed a piece of Bayern Munich's brand in the Bavarian words "Mia san Mia"—we are who we are. The boys have made it clear that the slogan is not just about the winning, but it is about being in position to win year after year. And that takes a willingness to prepare, to work hard, to embrace our teammates as family, to serve others . . . just way more than w's. We look at this summer to note that once again Fall 2022 began in June. We played in the Champions League (winning for the 3rd straight year), we traveled to Wichita for the Shep Memorial where we lost only in a final shootout, we had all but 3 guys at summer camp that ended in a Championship of the BWhite Classic that included a 3-1 win over Gretna the 2022 State Champs of Nebraska. As we get ready fo
